Splattered Bugs
Bike: 28 miles
My race went well on Saturday. My age group was in the first heat and took off around 8:30 am on Saturday morning. It was pretty cool riding through Camp Pendleton. I was pretty happy to be on my bike and not marching around with all those troops on the base.
The ride started out in a big pack...similar to what you see on television. It was pretty closterphobic being in a big pack like that. I fell back to last place in my age group and just took it nice and steady. I ended up passing around ten to fifteen people in my age group which is pretty good considering there were only about thirty-five to forty of us. The highlight of the race was flying down the not-so-easy-to-climb hill at forty miles an hour.
I think a bug splattered against my sunglasses at one point.

Good race. There are only a few weeks left and I am not all that sure that I am 100% ready. My training will come down to the wire.
