Motivation
I awoke to the sound of a beep coming from my iPhone. I hesitantly reached over to see what woke me. It was the reminder from my Google calendar that I was to get up and run for an hour and a half. Frustrated, I turned the phone off and went back to sleep.

This scenario has been playing itself out repeatedly over the last few months. The looming race day has gone from months to weeks and will soon be days away. I have been increasingly losing my motivation. I have decided that I am going to give it one more push to see if I can keep up the training to get to start line of Ironman St. George.

I have a long run planned for after work. My dog, Cooper, eagerly awaits this race being over with so that we can resume our after work walks. He gives me the guilty eyes everyday I get home to put on my running shoes or mount my bike trainer instead of grabbing a poo bag and a leash. It could be the guilt brought on by the dog that is keeping me from wanting to continue with the training. Or that could be one item on a long list of things that are depleting my motivation and encouraging my frustration.
